Dear Citizens of the Anishinaabe Nation in Treaty 2 Territory,

Boozhoo Warm greetings to each of you!

As we gather here, united as the Anishinaabe Nations in Treaty 2 Territory, we honor our deep-rooted connection to this ancestral territory—a bond forged long before European settlement. Our authority to govern emanates from the Creator, who placed us here since time immemorial. As a sovereign Nation, we stand as stewards of our people’s collective rights and the sacred aki we call home.

Reconciliation is our shared path and is a direct result of the Treaty Relationship we have with the crown—one that demands recognition of our rightful authority over this Territory. It compels us to assert our rightful place in our territory and seek just compensation for lands lost through settlement and immigration. In ongoing dialogues with other governments, we strive to mend unfinished business and fortify the legitimacy of our Nation, Territory, and Government.

Our journey toward modernization began in the late 1990s. Guided by unwavering leaders, Anishinaabe Agowidiiwinan – Treaty 2 (AA-T2) emerged.   A pivotal milestone of our government was the establishment of our Declaration of Collective Rights of The People of First Nations in Treaty 2 Territory with Respect to Our lands, Waters and Resources.

Most recently, FNT2T evolved into the Anishinaabe Nation in Treaty 2 Territory (ANT2T). Today, we invite you to explore this new website—a portal that unveils our fresh vision, with a keen focus on the heart of ANT2T: The People.

As we forge ahead, collectively shaping our destiny, we acknowledge the rich tapestry of our territory. As Anishinaabe, we share our territory with other nations and coexist within these lands. It is our imperative as sovereign Nations to come together to fortify our shared future.

Together, we honor our past, shape our present, and envision a resilient tomorrow. With utmost respect and unwavering determination,
Miigwetch,
